Merci Cavalli, et Columbus

Nothing better than a day off thanks to Columbus. And nothing better than time spent with all of Paris' shows from the last two weeks. Cavalli wins best use of prints, patterns and textures. This collection definitely pops off the runway and onto my list of must-haves for 2012. See more. Don't miss the shoe and bracelet details - gorg.

Som' Favorites

Peter Som can do no wrong. He is a constant all time designer crush who never disappoints me. Here are som' of my favorites from his Friday show at NYC's Fashion Week. Beautiful, bright, bold, bring it on Spring 2012 RTW. See the full collection at http://www.style.com/fashionshows/complete/S2012RTW-PSOM.

A Married Muse

I'm musing about Kate this weekend. She did it. Miss Moss is married. And I am sure the wedding was as beautiful as her and her iconic style. Can't wait to see more of her Galliono gown from the nuptials.

Waiting Line

I don't believe in waiting in line. Nothing in life could be that good that a line is worth it. No food, no club, no movie, no concert, no autograph. But Chanel's 2012 Resort boot wear collection -- that's a different story and a waiting line in which, I'll wait.

Forget You

Just as I was easing into my summer groove and loading up on all new duds for the next three months, Burberry has to drop their Fall 2011 collection on me. I am speechless, which we all know is rare. Forget you summer, the funds are being reallocated to Fall. STAT.

Long Live McQueen

Well done Sarah Burton. Well done house of McQueen. If I was marrying the next King, I'd wear you everyday of the week and my wedding day too. The Duchess of Cambridge looked regal and royal. Her gown -- refined with edge, simple with statement, current yet appropriate, and a beautiful tribute to Alexander McQueen runway taken to Westminster Abby.

Happy Easter Bunny

Eggs are dyed, baskets are by the door, and the Easter bunny's on his way. More importantly, ahemm, what's in your closet for tomorrow's big hunt? Hopefully something colorful, festive and fabulous like my two favorite looks from Peter Som's Spring 2011 Ready to Wear collection. Happy Easter Bunny!

Transcended State

Flying back from the West Coast, listening to Adele's Turning Tables and watching Chanel's Paris Fall 2011 fashion show. I love the darkness, shadows, hard edges and goth inspired production. And yet, there is totally something ethereal about it at the same time that has me caught in a transcended state. I'll never stop loving you KL.

In A Word

You know when you see something and it's instant, well, in a word, love? This is love. Thank you Pucci for my Saturday morning romance.

Thin Mint

I didn't partake in the Girl Scout cookie thing this Spring. However, I'm wondering if I shouldn't indulge with this whole DVF thin mint moment. Ignore the frock as I'm definitely not so sure about all that crazy business (though the make up is to die for, love the pink lips). But let's assess the shoes. Whether in mint, or the other colors, I think Mrs. Diane might be on to something. I've loved my Guardian booties from her Fall collection, so may just try these heels out when the weather warms up again.

Take That Mother Nature

Today I found myself taking a walk in 35 degree temperature, a wintry mix and my Mackage Chloe coat. Just one problem -- it's March 27th, daffodils are blooming, clocks are set forward and my coat was packed up until next year. Well I wasn't too annoyed, I love this fur puffy and was more than happy to dig it out and dawn it for another day or two. So take that mother nature!

Purchasing Potential

I've never been much of a Nanette Lepore fan. Actually, I haven't been a fan at all and have never owned a piece of her clothing. I've found it too off the rack. But today my mind was opened and enlightened to the possibilities. After a business lunch in Maryland, some lovely numbers in the Lepore boutique window caught my eye. These three looks are some of my favs -- and dare I say, may qualify for purchasing potential. Plus some cutie bubble shorts I spied. Cu-tie.

Speeding Up

I know it's a sign of weakness to shop out of boredom, so -- I guess that makes me weak. But it's also Spring and there's pep in my step. So to compliment my stride, I am feeling out a new Speedy and thinking of speeding up to a 40 monogram. I know, I know. I have said that I don't like anything monogramed. That stance remains; exception being Louis Vuitton bags and money clips.

Seeing Stars

Thanks for your hospitality Texas, thanks for the wild ride Austin, and thanks for all things digital SxSW. I'm heading home tomorrow from the lone star state -- seeing stars with this addition to my wardrobe from Dolce and Gabbana. So fun!

When It Rains, It Pours

I just love how Lagerfeld makes this umbrella almost hat like. Only he could achieve such a subtle, beautiful nuance. Which pretty much defines his entire Spring 2011 collection. Did I ever tell anyone that when I interviewed with Chanel many years ago, I addressed my thank you note to "Channel". Rookie. Fortunately my typo was caught pre-postage and I still ended up working for the house years later. And ironically there was misspelling story to that era too. I guess when it rains, it pours. Oy.

Feel Good Furs

Still in the sick bed, but these feel good furs are lifting my spirits. Michael Kors displayed an amazing collection today at NYC Fashion Week. Always reminds me of my favorite show of his from Spring RTW 2007. Complete with Prince and Justin Timberlake.

Fashion Week Fever

I've got it, plus another kind of fever. The kind that leaves you in the bed all day hoping some moment from NYC Fashion Week will make you feel better. Some fair attempts worthy of mention -- Tracey Reese, Carolina Herrera and Monique Lhuillier. When I feel better, I'll buy you.

Breakfast With Burberry

Just when I think I've hit that mid-winter slump with my wardrobe, I'm re-inspired by my Saturday morning breakfast with Burberry Prorsum. Being reminded of some of these looks from Bailey's 2010 Fall RTW collection, I now feel renewed for at least another month.

What More Does a Woman Need

When Couture is this good, what more does a woman need? Nothing. I'll take all four thank you. Courtesy of Valentino Spring 2011.

Mix, Match It Up

I'm excited to bring my fedora back out this Spring. But it's not the hat that makes me happy in this pic from Lanvin's Resort 2011 collection -- it's the everything. Literally the layering of everything. Prints, textures, pieces, patterns and colors. Mix, match it up. All of it. That's what I love.

So, What?

I'm so tired. So drained. So, what? Yeap, this expression perfectly captures my current mood. And I'm actually sitting here in a sweater like this wooly one from Prada Fall '10 with my lace up moccasin slippers and crazy hair. It's what I call my "CGAF" look. And it's perfect for a so, what? kind of night. Night.
(want to know what CGAF stands for - tweet me)

Swan-Like Juxtaposition

I finally saw Black Swan last night. Oh my ga'. I loved it! The cinematography, art direction, editing, casting, and story. The extreme duality of the Swan Princess and Black Swan, the transformation, the coexistence, the journey of perfection through self-destruction. Intense. Loved it. And love this beautiful swan-like juxtaposition from Dolce and Gabbana's Spring collection.

Make Believe

If I was a famous actress or even some famous actress' minion, I'd have worn this Elie Saab to the Golden Globes tonight. Gold, sexy, femme sophistication and elegance. Playing make believe is fun. I can't wait to pick something out for the Oscars.

I Heart Halston

I could live and die in Halston. Kind of like Carrie did in SATC II. Well, she didn't die -- but I think she wore at least 10 pieces. And I died for each one of them. The heritage silk pleated dress is an all time favorite. And a soon to be occupant of my closet. Ship Date 2.7.11.

My Kate W's

Someone at the office remarked that by the types of books at my desk that I would have Vogue's on my coffee table at home. I corrected him, I have W's. And a very rare collection of Kate Moss W's to be exact. Every few months I rotate them -- top of the stack this month is Gold Standard March 2005. Love the angles, the yellow heat, and low structure of the dress.

Wintry Wear

A true source of happiness for me is how snow has found its way back to Virginia. We haven't had winters like the past two since I was a little girl. I loved sledding down my parents' backyard hill, building igloos, selling snow cones and making snow angels of course. As an adult though, I just love the cozy, comfy wintry wear. My collection of which has much improved since the days of bib pants, CB jackets, and moon boots.

Inspired Images

I haven't blogged in forevs. Pathetic. I'm convinced that to be a good blogger, you have to be a full time blogger. Easier said than done when you're already a full timer. So for now, maybe just some simple posts with inspired images that might inspire you and your personal expression. I've had this one saved to my desktop for months. I love the sense of urban escape and soft, yet dramatic styling.
